Victims uncooperative following weekend shooting in Chicopee

Shots fired Saturday morning on Celestine Street

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Police in Chicopee say that witnesses are not cooperating with their investigation into a weekend shooting in Willimansett.

Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk told 22News that officers were called to Celestine Street at around 4:00 Saturday morning on a report of gunshots. When they got there, police did not find any suspects, but did encounter some people who claimed to have been victims of the shooting.

“They told our officers there had been a shooting incident, but would not provide much more information,” Wilk wrote on the department’s official Facebook page.

“At this time, the victims are not cooperating with our detectives.”

The victims did not have any injuries, but Wilk says detectives did find evidence that a shooting had indeed taken place on Celestine Street.
