2 vehicles collided in Holyoke, one person take to hospital

Street light may have played a factor in the accident

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Holyoke Police shutdown the intersection of Dwight and Beech streets, Monday night, after two vehicles collided.

A Holyoke Police Officer at the accident site, who was redirecting traffic, told 22News that for about a week the traffic light has only been flashing yellow on Beech Street and red on Dwight Street, which could have been a factor in the crash.

The officer said the driver of one car was taken to Baystate Medical Center; their condition is unknown at this time. The other driver is expected to be okay.

When 22News arrived at the intersection, both vehicles were being towed away, and police were collecting evidence off the street.

22News will continue to follow this story and bring you the latest information, on-air and on WWLP.com, when it becomes available.
