SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – At Sixteen Acres Garden Center in Springfield some people were out looking to get some fall plants.
“I came out today because I had the day off and it was beautiful and I wanted to find some mums for the front of the house so here I am enjoying the beauty of nature,” said Pat Anzalotti of Hampden.
And there are still plenty of things available that you can put in the ground right now.
“It’s a great time for trees, shrubs, perennials your spring flowering bulbs should go in the ground now so it’s a real good time to plant all of that,” said Andy Grondalski, the Nursery Manager at Sixteen Acres Garden Center.
You can also plant cool weather vegetables like cabbage and kale. It’s also not too late to plant grass seed as well.
“I’ve been told this is the time to redo the lawn and it’ll be beautiful in the spring,” said Jim Madden of Springfield.
“There’s plenty of time for grass seed to come up it’s nice and cool it’s moist in the evenings it’s cool at night the grass seed shouldn’t take long to germinate and come up for you,” said Andy Grondalski.
Right now is also a good time to pick up some bargains. Most things are now 40 percent off.
