$300K will help STCC in efforts to stop violence against women

Neal, Gulluni, and STCC officials made announcement Friday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Technical Community College is receiving a big grant, which is designed to keep women safe.

The $300,000 grant, which comes from federal tax money, was announced Friday morning by Congressman Richard Neal, District Attorney Anthony Gulluni, and officials from STCC and the YWCA.

The money, awarded by the Justice Department’s Office on Violence Against Women, will go to create a new campus safety and empowerment program.

It will boost campus security, improving the ability to respond to and investigate instances of domestic or sexual violence. It will also be put toward improving services for victims, and providing prevention and education programs.
