Woman taken to hospital after Westfield mobile home fire

Home is located off Southampton Road

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A woman was taken to the hospital following a fire at her mobile home in Westfield Thursday morning. She and four other people will have to stay elsewhere.

Westfield Fire Capt. Chris Regan told 22News that the fire started in a bedroom of the home at the Heritage Trailer Park, located off Southampton Road. Firefighters were called in at 9:15 A.M., and a woman was still there and answered the door for firefighters. She was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Deputy Fire Chief Patrick Egloff told 22News that the family had a dog and four cats, some of which are unaccounted-for as of Thursday afternoon, though Egloff said it is not believed that they died in the fire.

The department was able to get the fire under control quickly, but the home sustained some smoke and water damage, Regan said.

The State Fire Marshal’s office is looking into the cause of the fire. Egloff said that it is not believed to be suspicious in any way.
