Police: Drugs fell from the suspects body during traffic stop in Montague

About 32 grams of cocaine was seized

MONTAGUE, Mass. (WWLP) – Massachusetts State Police arrested a man Monday night on multiple drug charges after a traffic stop in the Town of Montague.

According to State Police Media Relations, around 11:10 p.m. Monday, Trooper Scott Boutell from the Shelburne Falls Barracks stopped a Nissan Maxima for several motor vehicle violations.

While speaking with the driver of the Maxima, Deon Charles, the trooper discovered that his license was suspended. State Police said Charles was then asked to step out of the car, which is when drugs allegedly fell from his body.

Trooper Boutell arrested Charles and allegedly found more drugs during an investigation. State Police said several bags of marijuana and about 32 grams of cocaine was seized during the arrest.

Bail for Charles was set at $10, 000. He was charged with the following:

  • Cocaine Trafficking
  • Possession to Distribute Class B
  • Possession to Distribute Class D
  • Operating a Motor Vehicle after License Suspension
  • Fail to Yield/Stop
  • Crosswalk Violation
