CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Chicopee Mayor Richard Kos, along with hundreds of residents of polish descent, were at city hall to raise the Polish flag. It’s in honor of Polish Heritage Month which is celebrated in October.
Local resident Frank Chamaura told 22News that events like these are important because they celebrate Poland’s history. “I’m born in poland,” he said. “I remember the second world war like it was today, with Hitler and the Russian occupation.”
At the ceremony, Mayor Kos said there are several different nationalities in Chicopee and that he’s happy to honor the different communities when there’s an opportunity.
