How to detox your home

CHICOPEE, Mass. (Mass Appeal) – Toxins are everywhere, and it is incredibly important to keep this in mind when preparing for a safe and healthy pregnancy. Certified Environmental Health Specialist Jennifer Steiner from Healthy Healing Wellness in Connecticut joins us to share more.

Minimizing Exposure:

Scientists have been researching pollution of the air, water and land for decades. But, it is only recently that they have been looking at pollution in people.

We are exposed to a lot of these pollutants in our everyday products so we have the choice to choose safer products that are not chemically based. We can’t control what is out there but we can control the products that come into our homes. Pediatricians and scientist once believed that the placenta would protect the baby from these different contaminants but we now know that is not the case. EWG did a study where they tested the blood of babies in the womb and found different things including endocrine disrupters, neurotoxins and carcinogens.

Just because these toxicants were found does not necessarily mean they will cause harm but there is enough concern and that we should do all that we can to minimize the exposure. So, this is why it is important to make safer choices around the time that we are looking to start a family.
