Hot car death trial underway

A father is accused of leaving his 22-month-old son to die in a hot car back in June of 2014.

(WXIA) The trial of Ross Harris, a Georgia man accused of intentionally leaving his toddler in a hot car to die, continues Tuesday.

The defense team for Ross Harris began at Tuesday morning with its opening statements.

Some of the first people likely to testify are the first responding officers to the Akers Mill Shopping Center and the actions of Ross Harris.

One female officer first approached Harris as he was on the phone.

“She saw him back and forth pacing away from the child and you’re going to hear he held up his finger on the phone and then got into an argument with the police,” Assistant District Attorney Chuck Boring said in his opening statement. “Shut the f-up my son just died.”
