HOLLYWOOD (CBS) – Television’s #1-rated daytime talk show, DR. PHIL, reveals new details in the case surrounding the award-winning Netflix documentary, “Making A Murderer,” when Steven Avery’s new fiancée, Lynn Hartman, grants her first sit-down interview and describes how she found true love with one of America’s most notorious convicted killers in an exclusive television interview. Avery was convicted in 2007 for the murder of photographer, Teresa Halbach, and is currently serving life in prison at the Waupun Correctional Institute in Wisconsin. Hartman, a legal secretary, says she began writing to Avery earlier this year and just met him face to face two weeks ago. The episodes air Monday, October 3rd and Tuesday, October 4th (check local listings).
Calling Hartman from prison, for the first time in a broadcast interview, Avery discussed topics with Dr. Phil ranging from his pending nuptials and his infamy to his hope that actor Brad Pitt portray him in a film about his life. Of Hartman, Avery said, “I haven’t been in love my whole life. It’s not the same as the others. Everything is all different with her.” When asked about his nephew, Brendan Dassey recently having his conviction overturned, Avery responds, “The truth is coming out and sooner or later all the truth will come out.”
“Was this immediately ‘love at first write?’” – Dr. Phil to Lynn Hartman about her relationship with Steven Avery
“The first time he told me he loved me was the first time we spoke on the phone.” – Lynn Hartman about her fiancé Steven Avery
“I want to wait until I’m out and I don’t think that’ll be too long; right around the corner.” – Steven Avery on a possible wedding date to his fiancée Lynn Hartman
