CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The moose that was on the loose in Chicopee on Friday has been captured.

This moose was seen wandering in the area of Westover Air Reserve Base on Friday.

The state environmental police told 22News they were able to successfully immobilize the moose. They said that because the moose weighed more 700 pounds, and it was wandering in a highly populated residential area, they made the decision to sedate the moose.

It was taken to a more rural location and then released back into the wild once the effects of the sedative wore off.
