Firefighters rescue driver involved in two-car crash in Springfield

Neither driver was seriously injured

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – One person had to be rescued from their wrecked car after a serious crash in Springfield.

Springfield Police Lt. Kenneth Murray told 22News that police and firefighters were called to the “X,” the intersection of Belmont and Sumner Ave, around 11 o’clock Saturday night for a serious two-car accident.

According to Lt. Murray, one person was trapped in their car after the crash. Firefighters had to tear open the car in order the get to the trapped driver.

Springfield Police Lt. Richard Labelle told 22News that despite the heavy damage to both cars, neither driver was seriously hurt in the crash.
