AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – There’s going to be a lot of celebrations going on at UMass over the next few days. UMass is expecting thousands of people for the dozens of homecoming events taking place across campus. Events for homecoming weekend began Thursday and run until Sunday.
The 12th annual Faculty Convocation at Bowker auditorium took place Friday morning. Faculty were honored for their accomplishments in research and creative activity.
The Chancellor also delivered a keynote address, giving insights on what’s on the university’s plans for the coming year.
The annual homecoming day parade steps off Saturday morning at 11:00am.
Umass Amherst Spokesman Ed Blaguszewski told 22News, “We work closely with the town to make sure people can enjoy the festivities, because it’s really a community celebration, where many alumni come back, and hoping for a big crowd at the football game against Tulane.”
Blaguszewski said there will be police directing traffic for the football game and the parade. The game kicks off at 3:30pm.
The UMass Hall of Fame Induction is Friday night, as well as the 42nd annual Multiband pops concert.
