WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Western Massachusetts houses of worship often help the Red Cross recruit blood donors.
West Springfield’s Mittineague congregational church hosted an annual blood drive Friday, as it has for the last 15 years. Church members and neighbors took advantage of the opportunity to donate the “gift of life.” This is just one of several health-oriented causes supported by the church.
Ann Bachmann told 22News, “We started out with the Red Cross, lifeline screening and then we went on to Alzheimer’s program. We had seminars, the people were just starving for information.”
Mittineague’s congregation is one of several West Springfield churches that provide space for blood drives throughout the year.
