HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Hikers are about to find more recreational possibilities in Holyoke. The Massachusetts conservation and recreation department has provided the money to create a one mile hiking trail off Mountain road in West Holyoke.
The cities conservation director Andrew Smith showed 22News why he’s enthusiastic about the new hiking trail.
“What it’s going to do is to provide a network of connectors with the New England scenic trail across the city and miss wildlife property. So what it’s going to do it’ll open up recreation activities to the part of town and west of here” said Smith.
The one mile west Holyoke trail near Westfield and Easthampton is expected to be ready for hikers by 2018.
