Governor Baker travels to Israel on trade mission

BOSTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Governor Charlie Baker plans to lead a trade trip to Israel in December. 22 News found out what he hopes to accomplish during his first international trade mission.

This will be Governor Charlie Baker’s first overseas trade mission since he took office in January 2015. Governor Baker plans to leave for Tel Aviv, Israel on December 9th and return to Massachusetts on December 15th.

The governor will be accompanied by members of his administration and about 40 leaders from the private sector. The focus of the trip will be on cyber security and digital innovation in the health care industry. Governor Baker will spend six days meeting with Israeli political leaders, and learning about Judaism.

Many Israeli companies are hoping to expand their businesses in the United States. The goal is to form an economic partnership, and ultimately to create quality jobs and business opportunities in Massachusetts.  The Baker administration said that no public money will be used to pay for the six-day trip.
