3 Agawam police officers suspended

Agawam Police Chief said no one has been fired at this time

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Three Agawam Police Officers have been placed on administrative leave for allegedly using force in an incident at Agawam Police Headquarters.

Agawam Police Chief Eric P. Gillis told 22News that the incident happened June 19, and was caught on in-house cameras.

Chief Gillis said a review of the video footage was conducted, and then the chief personally review the footage and conducted a second review of the reports. The three officers were then placed on administrative leave.

Mayor Richard Cohen was notified and the chief consulted with the Office of Hampden County District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni. The matter was referred to APD Management of Tewksbusy for further investigation and review, said Chief Gillis.

The chief said the investigation by APD Management was concluded last week.

Chief Gillis confirmed to 22News that no one has been fired at this time.
