WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Every year the Big E designates a certain day to represent a town or state and celebrates their connection to the Eastern States Exposition. Monday was Springfield Day. Local high schools bands, clubs and leaders will come to join in.
Even at the start of the work week, there were still crowds coming out. “It’s just a matter of doing outreach, public awareness,” Eugene Cassidy, the CEO of the Eastern States Exposition told 22News. “It’s our way at the Eastern States of thanking the contiguous communities for the stress that we put on the region when we’re running.”
Monday night is one of the biggest nights at the Big E, with the 4H cattle auction beginning at 6 p.m.
