2 houses damaged after SUV caught fire

Electrical failure determined to be cause of fire

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – An electrical failure caused an SUV to catch fire in Springfield’s Forest Park neighborhood Monday morning, a fire department spokesman says.

Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield Fire Commissioner, told 22News that the SUV was in a driveway between two multi-family homes, when it caught fire at around 7:00 A.M. The heat from the flames melted the siding on the homes at 22-24 Lawndale Street and 28 Fauirmount Street.

22News was there as firefighters extinguished the flames and an investigator determined the cause of the fire, following interviews with residents.
