WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A woman and a man were taken to the hospital after they were injured in an encounter with beef cattle at the Big E late last week.

According to Big E spokesperson Noreen Tassinari, on Friday, a woman went inside a stall between the two cattle. “The animals in the stall reacted to this intrusion, and the woman was kicked and knocked down,” Tassinari told 22News.

A man who was with the woman tried to help her, but he was also hurt.

Tassinari said that the stall the woman entered was in an area clearly marked “off limits” to the public.

There is no word at this time on the condition of either the woman or the man.
