Springfield attorney nominated for Superior Court Judge

Public hearing held at Springfield City Hall

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) –  A public hearing was held Tuesday night in Springfield for Attorney Michael Callan, who’s been nominated to be a Superior Court Judge.

Governor Charlie Baker nominated Callan for the position. The Governor’s Council, along with the Hampden County Bar Association, hosted the hearing at Springfield City Hall.

Callan lives in Longmeadow and has been a lawyer for more than two decades. He’s a partner at Doherty, Wallace, Pillsbury & Murphy P.C in Springfield. He also serves as Town Counsel to Longmeadow, Ludlow and Hampden.

Hampden County Bar Association President Kevin V. Maltby said, “The Hampden County Bar Association was pleased to hear that Governor Baker had nominated Michael A. Callan to the Superior Court. It is essential that judicial vacancies in this community are filled by people from Western Massachusetts. With Attorney Callan, the Governor has nominated an experienced litigator from western Massachusetts who has practiced before the Courts in this community.”

There will be a formal confirmation for Callan at the State House on Wedsneday. The vote to confirm his nomination is tentatively scheduled for September 28th.
