MGM Springfield’s parking garage framework raised

Workers have been laying the resort's foundation over the last 15 weeks

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – MGM Springfield construction is on schedule, and you can see the parking garage finally taking shape.

22News put together a time lapse for you, which you can see below. You can see crews laying down raised sections of concrete to create the garage’s framework.

Workers have been laying the resort’s foundation over the last 15 weeks, and it’ll continue throughout the month. Come October, a crane will be used to put steel beams in place.

Business owners said the sooner it’s built, the better. Rico Daniele of Mom & Rico’s told 22News, “I see a lot of good progress, but it’s all backed up traffic over here. It’s pretty difficult to keep a business open. I’m lucky to be with my family, or you lock the door.”

MGM Springfield will meet with the Massachusetts Gaming Commission this week for their quarterly update. The $950-million resort casino is scheduled to open in September 2018.
