Polito told 22News that Massachusetts has a strong agricultural sector, which helps contribute to the overall economy. She emphasized the importance of purchasing locally-grown products to keep farmers and small businesses up and running.

“Some of them are family farmers and businesses that have been in business here in Massachusetts for decades, and we need to support them,” Polito said.

The drought has made these past few months particularly difficult for farmers across the state.
