(CNN/WWLP) – Apple has received several complaints that the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are producing a strange hissing or buzzing sound.
22News asked YES Computers in Northampton about what may be causing the phone to hiss. Anthony Smith said, “A lot of that is because of the intense processing power that is in this phone and a lot of these devices now. All these components are packed really tightly together and sometimes causes weird noises to happen.”
Social media have already created a name for the noise controversy, calling it “Hissgate.” IPhone users have begun posting videos on twitter of their phones making the noise.
It remains unclear how widespread the issue is. The phone retails for up to $750.
