The Kings named Big E’s 2016 Master of Music winner

The Big E Centennial

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (The Big E) – The votes are in! The Eastern States Exposition’s 2016 Masters of Music winner is The Kings, West Springfield’s own, who will be performing at The Big E’s Court of Honor Stage sponsored by xfinity® Saturday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m.

Masters of Music is a battle of the bands-type competition that took place at this year’s CityBlock Summer Concert Series in Springfield, Mass., for the second year in a row. After the nine bands performed, Big E Facebook fans had the opportunity to vote for their favorite from Aug. 26 through Sept. 2.

Along with a spot on the center stage on the historically most popular day of the Fair, bands competed for $1,000 and a trip for two band members to Nashville. The trip, with complimentary registrations to the 2016 International Entertainers Buyers Association conference, offers a valuable opportunity to learn about the music industry, meet agents, talent buyers and radio personalities, and explore Music City.

The Kings, led by brother and sister duo Jeff King and Melissa (King) Carreira, are joined by John Cantalini on guitar, Tom Coburn on piano and Ed Balon on drums.

Established in 2008, the band has kept fans on their feet by blending Blues, Rock and Country into original music and over 100 covers.

Playing at various restaurants, bars, inns and ski lodges, The Kings know how to keep an audience entertained and have created danceable singles like “Rise” and “Crazy Checks.”

The Masters of Music is a major part of Eastern States Exposition’s ongoing initiative to showcase local talent.

The Big E celebrates its centennial this year and runs from September 16 through October 2. To stay updated on the Fair’s most recent news visit, like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter or call our info line at 413-205-5115.
