GOSHEN, Mass. (WWLP) – Massachusetts Environmental Police discovered what they are calling a “large marijuana grow site” in the middle of a state forest in Hampshire County.

Katie Gronendyke, spokesperson for the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, told 22News that an environmental police officer spotted marijuana plants growing while on patrol at the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) State Forest in Goshen at around 5:00 Thursday evening.

He called for backup, and three other officers and a police dog were called in. They seized a total of 47 marijuana plants.

Photos released by the Massachusetts Environmental police show the tall plants growing in bags in the middle of a wooded area.

No arrests have been made at this time, but the environmental police are continuing to investigate the case.
