CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Two lanes of Interstate 91 southbound were closed for about an hour, late Tuesday afternoon, right past the Chicopee Curve, which caused traffic delays.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, around 3:25 p.m. Friday, two lanes were closed at the crash site, just past Exit 12 (Interstate 391). Just before 4:30 p.m., MassDOT stated that the crash site was cleared and all lanes were reopened.
When 22News arrived at the site, traffic was backed up over the Connecticut River into West Springfield. There were still delays after the site was cleared due to the construction on I-91 in Springfield, and also possibly due to the Big E traffic.
There is no word yet on the extent of any injuries, or what caused the accident.
