Suspicious man in van reportedly seen twice in Chicopee

Police need residents to call them if they see something out of the ordinary

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Chicopee police are asking residents to contact them if they a suspicious man in a gold van driving around town.

This past weekend, Hadley police received reports of a Hispanic man with thick, curly hair in a gold van, who approached an 11 year-old girl telling her that he needed help to find his lost puppy. Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk says that the department has received word that at least two similar incidents took place in Chicopee.

He said that one of the alleged incidents is said to have taken place near an unknown playground while a football team practiced nearby. The second incident purportedly took place near the Bowe School.

Wilk said that if anyone has information about something suspicious in Chicopee, they need to contact their department, and not a department in another town.

“We cannot investigate if we do not get calls on it. If you see something suspicious, please, call and report it so we can send a cruiser,” Wilk wrote on the department’s Facebook page.
