REHOBOTH, Mass. (AP) — Police are involved in a standoff with an armed man outside a Massachusetts convenience store.

Rehoboth Police Chief James Trombetta said in a Facebook post Thursday morning the area around the Cumberland Farms store has been evacuated.

Roads near the store are closed to traffic.

Cumberland Farms said in a statement that to its knowledge no employees or customers are inside the store and the gas pumps have been turned off.

The company said a man threatened a store employee at about 7 a.m., which prompted the standoff.

Rehoboth is about 50 miles southwest of Boston.
