Next West Springfield mayor might serve 4-year term

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Massachusetts Senate passed a bill on Thursday that was certified by the Senate Secretary, to have the West Springfield’s mayoral term extended.

Current West Springfield Mayor William Reichelt will still serve a 2 year term. In 2018, the newly elected mayor will then serve a 4-year term.

Mayor Reichelt told 22News Governor Charlie Baker is expected to sign the bill. West Springfield voters will approve or reject this term-change in the November election.
