1 person taken to hospital after car crashed into building in Chicopee

The car hit the Kung Fu Academy building

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Chicopee Police investigated a traffic accident in which one of the vehicles slammed into a building on East Street Thursday night.

Chicopee Police Officer Mike Wilk told 22News that an SUV and a passenger car collided at the intersection of East and Carew Streets around 9:25 p.m. Thursday. He said one of the vehicles then crashed into the front of a building, smashing the front windows.

When 22News arrived on East Street, we could see the two vehicles nosed in to the front of the building at the entrance to the Kung Fu Academy. The window, and bricks were smashed, and the vehicles had sustained significant damage.  Both were taken away on platform trucks.

Officer Wilk said one person was taken to the hospital, and the others involved refused medical treatment.  Wilk said the injuries were not serious.

Once damaged vehicles were towed away, the window was boarded up and the building was secured.
