ORLANDO, Flor. (WESH) – A new fence going up around the site of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history will feature artwork from Orlando residents.
The City of Orlando said the new fence will serve as a visual memorial to the 49 killed and more than 50 injured in the June 12 shooting at the Pulse nightclub. It will also serve as a testament to the strength, unity and love demonstrated by the Orlando community in the face of tragedy, the city said.
The fence, which will be installed Monday, will be significantly reduced in size compared with the current barrier, allowing visitors, employees and patrons of the surrounding businesses to safely navigate around the site.
