I-95 North in CT re-opened after 6,000 pounds of sausage spilled into the roadway

One of the two drivers was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries.

OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. (WTNH) — All northbound lanes of Interstate 95 are re-opened, after being closed overnight following a two-truck crash in Old Saybrook, Connecticut.

State troopers say that they were called at around 3 a.m. on Wednesday morning, following a crash involving a tractor trailer and a box truck, which they say had overturned. The box truck was carrying frozen sausage, much of which fell out due to the impact of the crash. Dispatchers say the Department of Consumer Protection was called in to oversee the clearing of the food item from the roadway.

One of the two drivers was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was also called in for a possible fuel leakage from one or both of the vehicles.
