SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – One thing the presidential candidates agreed on during Thursday night’s forum was that the country’s Veterans Affairs system needs to be fixed.

Donald Trump refuted Hillary Clinton’s claim that he supports privatizing the VA but said it is unacceptable for veterans to be waiting multiple days for care.

22News spoke with Gumersindo Gomez of the Bilingual Veterans Center in Springfield. He told 22News that money the VA gets is not being spent the way it should to help veterans and that privatizing the VA would be a bad idea.

“We’re having problems with the VA in trying to get as many services as we are entitled to,” he said. “Just imagine if we went private. Who is going to answer our questions? Who is going to be responsible for us?”
