Cocaine, heroin, and handgun seized in Springfield drug raid

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield police say that they seized a large amount of cocaine following a search of a home in the city’s Six Corners neighborhood last week.

According to Springfield Police Sergeant John Delaney, 34 year-old Guarionet Arroyo and 36 year-old Veronica Arocho are facing drug and gun charges after the search of their Rifle Street apartment on August 30.

Delaney said that police obtained a search warrant for 90F Rifle Street after a “lengthy investigation” by Springfield narcotics detectives, which was brought about after citizens complained about drug activity in the area. Inside the apartment, Delaney says police found a “large amount” of cocaine packaged for sale, as well as some heroin, scales, and packaging material. Detectives also seized a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun.

Both Arroyo and Arocho are charged with:

    • Possession of cocaine with intent to distribute
    • Possession of heroin
    • Possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony
    • Possession of ammunition
    • Carrying a firearm
