HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – Pretty much everyone 22News spoke with was excited for cooler weather after such a hot dry summer.
We felt a touch of Fall in western Massachusetts the past few days, and no one’s been complaining about. But according to the calendar, it’s summer until September 22nd. But some people just can’t wait.
Maureen Garrett, from Belchertown, told 22News, “I was so excited today when I got to put on a jacket and I have fall colors, and I changed my bag its my favorite season!”
Some people get a “Fall Itch” after Labor Day. Putting out Fall decorations and planting mums in the yard. But even though we’re expecting a warm-up this week, it won’t be too warm for those mums.
Tom Giles, from the Hadley Garden Center, told 22News, “No it won’t bother any of the mums that have been planted folks would have felt the cooler temperatures and they’ll be thinking of planting mums, I don’t know if it will slow it down although for a lot of us it makes us feel like ‘Oh good we have time Fall isn’t here yet.'”
Hanging mums are easy to take care of when the weather is changing so frequently you can just bring them inside.
Mums like cooler nights. And now that we’ve had some cooler nights, the mums are forming buds. The cooler weather will also help those buds bloom.
