Chicopee Police: 2 caught trying to steal air conditioners

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Chicopee Police arrested two people on Friday for allegedly breaking into a trailer with the purpose of stealing air conditioners.

Chicopee Police Officer Michael Wilk told 22News the call for the breaking and entering came in around 10:25 p.m. Friday at 1246 Granby Road, lot 12 in Chicopee.

Officers allegedly heard voices coming from inside the trailer when they arrived and ordered the suspects to come out of the trailer, said Wilk.

Officers found out after an investigation that the suspects allegedly broke unto the home with the purpose to steal air conditioners, said Wilk.


  • Kerry Severns, 41, of School Street Warren, MA
  • Bruce Charpentier Jr., 47, of Page Blvd. Springfield, MA

They’re both being charged with:

  • Breaking and entering nighttime with intent to commit a felony
  • Larceny from a building
  • Possession of a burglarious instrument

Charpentier was also charged with having an outstanding warrant, and is currently being held in the Ludlow House of Correction until court on Tuesday. Severns was released on bail.
