CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Labor Day is fast approaching, and recent travel surveys indicate that if you’re planning to drive to your vacation destination, you’re not alone.
Tens of millions of Americans are expected to travel for Labor Day, and the majority of people will be driving to their destinations.
According to TripAdvisor, 37% of people plan to travel this weekend, which is up 10% from last year.
One reason to account for this: Cheaper gas prices. Many people are also leaving early to avoid traffic and take advantage of a couple extra days of vacation.
“We’re leaving about two days early and we are going to a family party in Boston, which we do every year,” said Dimitrius Figueroa of Chicopee.
Travel experts say you can expect roads to be busiest on Labor Day, as many people head home from their holidays on Monday.
Even if you are planning a vacation for the upcoming holiday, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate right here in western Massachusetts.
Some popular Labor Day activities include swimming, visiting a local park, and having a cookout.
