Heavier traffic expected as colleges open for semester

Colleges are advising drivers to be patient

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Neighborhoods across Western Massachusetts will be busy with traffic, as college students move back in.

If you encounter traffic, colleges are advising drivers to be patient, but Springfield’s American International College told 22News, drivers traveling in their area, should not experience any traffic delays.

AIC’s Zachary Beaver said, “We always make sure checking some of the surrounding events, to make sure that there’s nothing that’s going to create a problem for us or the other folks coming to campus. We usually do a good job.”

Beaver added that drivers will experience additional traffic flow. AIC’s students move in this weekend, while Springfield College students move-in next Friday, September 2nd.
