Wheeling for Healing raising money for cancer programs

In past years it has also helped assist patients with expenses associated with their illnesses

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Wheeling for Healing. Hundreds rode their bikes sunday to help raise funds for an important cause.

177 cyclists came out to Greenfield Community College to complete either a 10, 25 or 50 mile bike ride all with the goal of raising money for cancer programs and services at Baystate Franklin Medical Center.

Since 2008, this event has raised more than $200,000. The benefit offered plenty of opportunities for Community members to get involved and help raise money.

Cindy Russo, Chief Administrative Officer said, “It offers something for everyone you don’t have to be an avid cyclist. I did the 10 mile bike ride today and hopefully next year I can step it up a little more.”

Wheeling for healing doesn’t know yet how much money was raised this year, but last year they raised more than 40,000 dollars.¬†Proceeds from the event will go towards purchasing infusion chairs and new exam tables for the oncology department.

In past years it has also helped assist patients with expenses associated with their illnesses.
