Wal-Mart foundation donates $25,000 to Springfield rescue mission

The rescue mission's emergency shelter provides beds for six hundred homeless men

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Wal-Mart foundation has donated $25,000 to the Springfield rescue mission. It’s a huge gift according to the rescue mission’s community development director Joe Manna.

walmart rescue mission 1Mayor Domenic Sarno gave his support to the Wal-Mart gift. Which the rescue mission intends to put to good use immediately.

Joe Manna, Springfield rescue mission community services director told 22News, “We’re using it for expanded emergency services that’s everything from an emergency shelter to the meals that we serve here.”

The rescue mission’s emergency shelter provides beds for six hundred homeless men and serves thousands of meals to the needy each week.
