Victim shot in his stomach, not talking to Springfield Police

2 Mason Square homes were hit by gunfire

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A 20-year-old Springfield man was shot in the abdomen and rushed to Baystate Medical Center Friday afternoon.

Springfield Police Lt Mark Rolland told 22News the victim is expected to survive his wounds, and was not cooperating with police. “He’s saying absolutely nothing,” Lt Rolland said.

The shooting took place on Cambridge Street in the city’s Mason Square neighborhood at about 3:15 p.m. Friday. Lt Rolland said two homes sustained unspecified damage when they were hit by gunfire. No one in either of those homes was hurt.
