(NBC News) Donald Trump aimed to refocus his campaign Friday as he drew thousands to his rally in Pennsylvania.
He told the crowd he used sarcasm when calling President Obama and Hillary Clinton the co-founders of ISIS.
“So I said the founder of ISIS. Obviously I was being sarcastic but not that sarcastic to be honest with you,” Trump said Friday.
Meanwhile, a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll shows Clinton gaining support in Colorado, North Carolina, and Virginia– three important battleground states.
And hoping to add to the pressure, Clinton released her 2015 tax returns Friday, something Trump refuses to do.
Clinton posted an online video featuring Republicans and Trump himself that pushes her message about Trump’s reluctance to be transparent about his taxes.
The Clinton campaign seems to be leading the debate in this election, with Donald Trump spending more time answering to her attacks than launching his own.
