Rain didn’t stop people from West Side’s Taste of the Valley

The “Taste” starts at 11:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The second night of West Side’s Taste of the Valley got off to a soggy start Friday, but a little rain didn’t keep people away. The “Taste” took over the West Springfield Common from Thursday to Sunday night.

Thousands of people come every year to sample dishes from local restaurants, and listen to western Massachusetts music groups. We’re told the food and music are just as good, even when it rains.

Stanley Iwanicki of Chicopee said, “We’re all under the tent. We’re still having a good time. Having something to eat. Something to drink. It’s a good time anyway, rain or shine.”

The “Taste” starts at 11:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Bands are scheduled every afternoon and evening with FAT playing Saturday at 8:30 p.m. The 5K Road Race steps off Sunday at 10:00 a.m. They’re also raffling off a vintage corvette to raise money for the Majestic Theater in West Springfield.
