Chicopee Police warn of overnight car break-ins

Reports all had the same issue of unlocked doors

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – There were car break-ins overnight in the area of Williamansett.

Chicopee Police Officer Michael Wilk told 22News people reported items stolen from their cars. Every report had the same common issue of unlocked doors.

Chicopee Police ask residents to lock their car doors. Thieves are walking around trying door handles to see if they will open.

If the thieves find an unlocked vehicle, they will go through and steal what they can, said Wilk.

Chicopee detectives are investigating these break-ins and the area cars are aware of making extra checks, said Wilk.

Wilk also said, you can also help by locking your car doors and hiding items that are in plain view in your car.
