(WLTW) A man was shot and killed by police in Cincinnati Sunday after he pulled a knife and attacked an officer.
Jawari Porter, 25, had been involved in a robbery earlier that day.
Porter’s brothers say he struggled with mental illness from an early age. He had spent years in and out of foster homes and the brothers were separated as children.
“He said he was struggling with hearing voices. He had trouble trusting people,” brother Vince Porter said.
While the family understands and accepts that the officer was defending himself, they do think the six shots were excessive.
Prosecutors concluded Monday that the shooting officer, Anthony Brucato, was justified in his actions.
