CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Heavy downpours are moving into western Massachusetts for late Wednesday morning, and that brings with it the risk of some street flooding.

An area of downpours with a few lightning strikes is coming in from the west/northwest, and will bring much-needed and widespread rain to the area through the late morning, and into the early afternoon.

22News Storm Team Meteorologist Nick Bannin says that there is also the possibility for scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon.

As we saw in West Springfield last week, street flooding can disable your vehicle, and cause lasting damage. If you see water on the road remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown. There is no way of knowing just how deep the water may be.
