VIDEO: Woman ransacks home while family sleeps

The strange woman rummaging through clothes and eat food

(KPIC) – Michelle Phelps has watched this haunting home-surveillance video multiple times; “It’s scary to not know what’s in the dark…and she just strolled around like she knew what was in the dark.”

The images of a stranger making herself at home, in her home, are forever painted in Phelps’s mind; “The time it comes really alive is at night when you close your eyes. Anytime you close your eyes, the video of her walking down the hallway is so haunting.”

Phelps says she and her husband woke up Monday morning, July 25th, to find their home ransacked. They checked their security video and discovered their home had an unwelcome visitor in the night.

She says the stranger, who was wearing face makeup, made food for herself; “Hot dog bun with cream cheese is what she came to the house and made.” And tried on clothes while eight people slept inside the home.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 24-year-old Tanisha Camille Mann in connection with the case. Mann is charged with multiple counts of burglary, theft, criminal trespass and possession of methamphetamine.

Phelps said, “It’s just, it’s so violating in so many ways. This is, ya know, your safe haven. You come home and this is where the world is done, this is your home…and for the messed up world to follow you into your home, it’s really hard.”
