CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A tree-sized branch came down across one half of Leona Avenue in Chicopee, Friday night, taking down wires and causing a power outage.

The branch broke off from a very large tree in the grassy belt that separates the two lanes of Leona Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. Friday. Half of Leona Avenue was closed to traffic.

Chicopee Electric Light told 22News they’d dispatch a repair crew to fix the downed wires and restore power. 22News received calls from residents who’d lost power on nearby Granby Road.

Chicopee Police had no estimate on when the road would reopen. Leona Avenue is a side street off Granby Road.
