WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – It has been a week since Homeland Security investigators and West Springfield police officers searched a home on South Boulevard, and the investigation has some neighbors concerned.

During the search last Friday, police were setting up boxes marked “Evidence Homeland Security.” Town police said that they were serving a search warrant, but could not provide additional information, since this is a federal investigation.

FBI, Homeland Security search home in West Springfield

22News found out that a Level 3 sex offender, Alexander Germaine, has the house listed as his home address. Last week, he said that this investigation does not involve him.

Neighbors told 22News that they are taking precautions in light of the investigation. “We got to make sure we know our neighbors here and what they’re doing. We have kids and we have to make sure in our neighborhood we’re safe,” Javier Ferrer said.

A woman living inside the home that was searched declined to comment on the investigation.

22News has contacted the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office for information on the search warrant. We will provide you with the latest information as it becomes available on air and here on WWLP.com.
